RIP Dan Wheldon.
We're totally in shock at the sad news about Dan Wheldon and can't find the right words to say. A great driver and a great friend of ours who let us push the boundaries on his designs and was always happy to try new ideas. His only instruction was to "go wild!". I always looked forward to getting Dan's helmets from Bell knowing I'd be working on something special, something fun. Working with such artistic freedom is rare and it's been an honour and a privilege to work with Dan. RIP mate, from everyone here at JLF Designs.

Autosport International Show
Day 1 of the Autosport Show and it was a good day with a lot of orders and interest in the artwork and prints. It was also great to catch up with a lot of old racing friends and customers that we haven't seen in a while.
If you're coming to the show, come over and visit us on stand 6907 (hall 6) near the Historic section. We've got plenty of helmets on display with some for sale along with the prints. Now we're off to catch up on some sleep!

Over the last 6 months we have been working on a new addition to the services we can offer, and now we can announce the launch of our airbrush artwork and prints!
We will producing a small amount of high-quality paintings, and limited-edition prints will be available to buy from the new website set up to promote the paintings www.artbyjlf.com
Private commissions will also be available but only on a very limited basis per year due to the amount of hours involved.

Britain has a new World Record holder after Lloyd de Boltz-Miller set a new World Record for driving a kart solo for twenty four hours.
The 25-year old from Norwich broke South African Myk Prescott’s benchmark distance of 1,152.54km at 7:36am with three hours remaining on the clock. By 10:37am (1 October), a full twenty four hours after he started out, Lloyd had eclipsed Prescott’s 2008 achievement and established a new record distance of 1,289.12km (801.38 miles).
JLF Designs made sure Lloyd looked good as he pounded out the laps, with a special design especially for the event which featured holographic flake, prismatic and dayglo colours which really showed up under the Whilton mill floodlights.

Lewis Hamilton Monaco 2010 helmet
Lewis asked for a new design for this weekends' Monaco Grand Prix, so we designed this new scheme with a special Casino theme. The top features a roulette wheel with a pair of dice on the back, and a variation on the side red bands. These pictures were taken before the shell was sent back to Japan for assembly, and we'll post some pictures of the completed helmet once we get some.

Monaco & Indy special designs
This month will be busy with several special designs being painted for the Monaco F1 GP and the Indy 500 race. Lewis Hamilton will be wearing a new design for Monaco with a Casino theme, and special Indy designs are being painted for Dan Wheldon, Ernesto Viso, and Takuma Sato who is having a commemorative design commisioned by Lotus to celebrate their return to the Indy 500.
I'll be flying over for the Indy 500 race but there's a lot of paintwork to complete before then!

Busy start to the race season
The pre-season is always a busy time of year but this year has been especially hectic. 3 new F1 drivers (Karun Chandhok, Paul Di Resta and Fairuz Fauzy) as well as lots of other new drivers has meant some long working hours and not many days off. It's been hard work and difficult to keep up but we're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
