Lewis asked for a new design for this weekends' Monaco Grand Prix, so we designed this new scheme with a special Casino theme. The top features a roulette wheel with a pair of dice on the back, and a variation on the side red bands. These pictures were taken before the shell was sent back to Japan for assembly, and we'll post some pictures of the completed helmet once we get some.

The pre-season is always a busy time of year but this year has been especially hectic. 3 new F1 drivers (Karun Chandhok, Paul Di Resta and Fairuz Fauzy) as well as lots of other new drivers has meant some long working hours and not many days off. Here's a helmet that was painted in a Gorillaz theme. Under the characters are many hours worth of hand-painted grafitti over a metalflake base. Block colours with pinstriping over green candy were put through the middle to give a contrast to the detail on the sides. Sunday was a busy day as Del and myself made visits to the Kartmania Kart Show and the International Bike Show. For the British GP we added a patriotic touch to Lewis's helmet with a Union Jack flag on the top, showing through a "torn" section in the yellow.Silverstone was another frustrating race for Lewis with a late spin ruining any chance of a good result after some great overtaking moves earlier in the race. Lewis's 2009 helmet design has a new addition! On the back is a cartoon of him spinning the decks as he does at some of the after-race parties. We have just finished painting 6 helmets for the FIA Formula One crew, and they are on a plane on their way to Australia for the first Grand Prix. The helmets are to be used at the races by FIA personnel including the safety car driver, so we might have another driver leading a GP at some point, apart from Lewis!

Customer Nick Eden recently picked up his new helmet on his way to a classic race meeting. With him was his stunning 1939 Alfa Romeo, and we all took a break from work to admire it. This years' Weston Beach Race was a great event held in perfect weather conditions. The Saturday race featured 500 quads and sidecars, and myself and my team-mate Andy Ellis shared a Yamaha 660 raptor to compete in the Quad class. Friday night, and the end of a particularly busy week. The pre-season rush seems to start earlier every year! The finishing touches are being applied to a helmet for IRL driver Alex Lloyd which features chrome and candy colours. Chrome is very popular at the moment and we're currently working on 11 seperate helmets featuring chrome in their designs.Here's a helmet we painted for Vaughn Williams.
